LEXINGTON RADIOLOGY ASSOCIATES

Interventional Radiology Services

Our interventional radiologists provide numerous minimally invasive image guided procedures to treat a wide variety of conditions including:

Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) Image

Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE)

  • Small catheters through groin or wrist artery access are used to deliver blood blocking material to the arteries supplying the prostate gland.
  • Decreasing blood flow to the prostate decreases the size of the gland and improves lower urinary tract symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
  • Most people return to work/normal daily activities within a few days.
Uterine Artery Embolization

Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE)

  • Minimally invasive therapy for treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids, especially for heavy menstrual cycle bleeding.
  • Small catheters through groin or wrist access are used to deliver blood blocking material to the arteries supplying the uterus.
  • Most people return to work/normal daily activities within a few days.
Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty

Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty

  • Minimally invasive treatment for back pain after an acute thoracic or lumbar spine fracture.
  • Needles are inserted into the fractured vertebra and cement is injected into the bone stabilizing fracture fragments and relieving pain.
Deep Vein Thrombectomy

Lower Extremity Deep Vein Thrombectomy/thrombolysis

  • A blood clot causing a blockage in a leg vein or deep pelvic/abdominal vein can be mechanically removed with a device (thrombectomy), dissolved with medication thrombolysis), or a combination approach can be used.
Lower Extremity Arterial Revascularization

Lower Extremity Arterial Revascularization

  • Blood flow can be restored by crossing a narrowing or blockage in a leg artery with a catheter and stretching the artery open with a balloon, placing a stent, or shaving away plaque with a device (atherectomy). The therapy is done to improve leg pain while walking (claudication) or to promote wound healing caused by insufficient arterial blood flow to the legs/feet.
  • These therapies can all be performed through small catheter access in groin arteries with short recovery times
Interventional Oncology

Interventional Oncology

  • Image guided minimally invasive microwave ablation and cryoablation of liver and renal tumors
  • Catheter directed chemoembolization and Yttrium-90 radioembolization of liver tumors
